Twenty-first century climate protests function as rites of mourning the future and calls to action that reconfigure public space and reassemble democracy. In this talk Sarah M. Pike explores the ways in which protesters use ritual and spectacle, such as funerals for extinct species and blood-spattering of national monuments, to expand democratic ideas and practices.
